God’s Promises

Life can feel unsettling - or perhaps… overwhelming… or even unbearable. Work can be time-consuming and stressful, leaving us feeling drained. Current world circumstances can cause fear and anxiety as we consider what might happen in the future.

Many events happen throughout our lives that cause deep sorrow and intense pain. In every season of life, God offers His people promises that steady, comfort, and guide. Studying God’s Word has done this for me. Everyday, I feel peace because He has taught me to trust Him.

Why do I, Cara,

• have low stress and

• feel overall content?

Because I seek and trust God.

I study my Bible,

pray to God throughout each day, and

strive to live as though He is right there with me every moment.

He has built my trust of Him.

God reveals Himself to anyone who seeks Him. He promises this.

All the stories in the Bible show us who He is. This builds trust because everything in the Bible has really happened and is true. It is right there to read. Anyone can. He preserves it for you to read.

This page gathers verses directly from Scripture.

If you are wondering whether these promises are for you, please keep reading.

GOD NEVER LEAVES YOU

It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; He will not leave you or forsake you.

~ Deuteronomy 31:8

Where shall I go from Your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from Your presence? … Your hand shall lead me, and Your right hand shall hold me.

~ Psalm 139:7,10

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you; I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.

~ Isaiah 41:10

Personal Note from Cara: When I feel overwhelm RISING within me, these verses remind me that God is right there with me — fully present & fully faithful.

GOD GIVES PEACE

You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.

~ 1 Peter 5:7

Personal Note from Cara: When I start to feel anxious because

• I don’t understand what is happening

• I’m wondering why

• sorrow begins to settle in

these verses remind me that my Savior has a grand master plan, is completely in control of everything, and watches over my whole life — and everyone else’s — because that is how able and faithful He is.

GOD IS COMPLETELY TRUSTWORTHY

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.

~ Lamentations 3:22–23

God is not man, that He should lie, or a son of man, that He should change His mind. Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not fulfill it?

~ Numbers 23:19

Every word of God proves true; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him.

~ Proverbs 30:5

The Lord will keep your going out and your coming in from this time forth and forevermore.

~ Psalm 121:8

Personal Note from Cara:

It is difficult to accept that every human will fail us — and that we fail others all the time, too — even those who really love us and we really love. Actually, humans are incapable of being 100% reliable. We try, but we fail.

That FAIL — the untruths we tell, the pride we feel about ourselves, the taking we do because we feel we deserve it - it is Sin. And we are absolutely STUCK in our Sin. We cannot try hard enough to get out of it. It’s impossible for us to free ourselves of our sin.

Why do I think about this? We Just need to keep living — just carry on, right?

NO. I don’t want to live like that. There has got to be more. I’m so tired of sinning and wondering what on earth matters. The spiral just carries on and on — unless there is something more. how can I feel hope and joy when sin is everywhere - including inside me?

This is where God comes in, if we let Him. But God cannot be around sin. He did make a way to get rid of sin, though. he says that something sinless needs to die to remove sin. DEATH happens for anyone who sins. This is why, so long ago, they killed so many ‘spotless’ animals when they made offerings — To get rid of sin and be near God. but the sins kept happening, so the killing of animals kept happening.

The Lord had a plan to change the way sinners reconnect to him — and live, instead of die.

God’s son, Jesus (also God), who was in heaven, became born as a human and lived a sinless life here on earth. Jesus was God, living on the earth he created and interacting with the people that he created (and dearly loves). and Jesus, who did not sin — because he is God — became the ultimate sacrifice for ALL human sin. He died like the sacrificed animals, taking away all of our sin, so we could live with God forever. This was the plan and this really happened.

So, how can each of us tap into this ‘saving from our sin and living forever with god?’

• You must recognize that you sin. And you must regret that you sin. And you must tell God that you are sorry for your sin — ask Him for forgiveness for your sin.

and

• you must believe that Jesus is real and that he actually died for your sins so that you don’t have to die for your sins.

If you truly do and believe these things, then Jesus’ sacrifice covers you and your sin! You should be prompted to seek Him and learn more. You will be amazed at how this changes your life — in every way — for the better.

How do you know these promises are for you?

The above promises (and more!) belong to every person who turns to Jesus — not because of our goodness or ability, but because of His grace. These verses explain the foundation of that hope.

We belong to God through Jesus

For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.

~ John 3:16

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ. By grace you have been saved.

~ Ephesians 2:4–5

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.

~ Ephesians 2:8–9

God’s promises are for those who turn to Him

If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.

~ Romans 10:13

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out.

~ Acts 3:19

For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.

~ Ephesians 2:8–9

God welcomes those who come to Him

All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and whoever comes to Me I will never cast out.

~ John 6:37

Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

~ Matthew 11:28

If you are reading this and longing for God’s nearness, peace, provision, or strength — He invites you to come to Him. These promises are reliable and true because He is reliable and true.

the LORD, The Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness, keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin.

~ Exodus 34:6-7

I am the first and I am the last; apart from me there is no God.

~ Isaiah 44:6
